Prince Avenue Christian football secures second straight state championship

Prince Avenue Christian football secured back-to-back state championships on Monday.

The Wolverines (13-1) defeated Swainsboro (12-3) 49-32 for the GHSA Class A-Division I state title in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Prince Avenue, winners of three of the past four state titles, also defeated the Tigers in last season's state championship game. Quarterback Aaron Philo set the state record for career passing yards and tied the mark for most passing touchdowns in a season in the victory.

Georgia Public Broadcasting will televise live all eight football and three flag football state championships Dec. 11-13. Each game will also be steamed live and available on demand on GPB.org and NFHS Network.
