Presumptive No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham to sign shoe deal with Nike

Oklahoma State guard and presumptive No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham will reportedly sign a multiyear endorsement contract with Nike, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Cunningham, who will turn 20 in September, becomes the first known prospect to sign a shoe endorsement contract ahead of the NBA draft. The pact with Nike is reportedly expected to be the highest-earning shoe deal among all players in the draft class this year.

The 6-foot-8 standout averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 27 games with Oklahoma State. He became the first player in program history to be named to the Associated Press All-American first team.

Cunningham wore several shoe brands during pre-draft workouts, including Adidas, PUMA and Converse before signing with Nike, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN. He will help usher in their new “Greater Than” series, wearing models like the GT Cut and GT Run.

He joins a star-studded roster of Nike athletes, including LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. It is estimated 68% of NBA players wear Nike on the court.

The NBA draft is scheduled to begin Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on ESPN.
