Prep Roundup: Traverse City Central falls to Midland Dow, 35-13; Kingsley rolls with 36-point win over Grayling; Panthers, Blue Devils stay undefeated

Sep. 29—MIDLAND — Traverse City Central could not complete the Midland sweep as the Trojans lost to Midland Dow Friday night.

The 35-13 setback comes a week after the Trojans (2-4) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 20-13 win against Midland last Friday. Both games were on the road, and Friday's 22-point defeat came on the night of the Chargers' homecoming festivities.

The Trojans took a 7-0 lead on a 15-yard outside run from Seamus Dye with 2:54 left in the first quarter, but the Chargers (4-2) struck back quickly with a touchdown drive of their own two minutes later.

An Asher Paul field goal eight and a half minutes into the second quarter gave the lead back to Central. The Trojans took the three-point lead into the locker room at the half, but Dow used a quick three-and-a-half minute drive coming out of the break to score a TD and take a 13-10 advantage after a missed extra point.

Another Dow touchdown four minutes later was accompanied by an extra point for the 10-point Charger cushion. The Trojans pulled within a score on another Paul field goal to make it 20-13 heading into the final frame.

The Chargers didn't waste any time in the fourth quarter, scoring just 24 seconds in to go up 27-13. With the game well in hand, Dow scored again with two minutes left in the game, sealing the Saginaw Valley victory with a two-point conversion to make it 35-13.

Central will host its own homecoming bash this coming Friday when the Trojans welcome Bay City Central to Thirlby Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
