Prep Roundup: GT Academy beats Forest Area in OT, 42-36; Bevy of area athletes drop 30 or more points in Friday's hoops action

Jan. 5—TRAVERSE CITY — A few extra minutes were needed, but it was worth it as the Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs knocked off Forest Area in varsity girls basketball action by a 42-36 final in overtime Friday.

Megan Pavwoski led the Mustangs with a double-double, tallying 19 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. She neared a triple-double as Pavwoski blocked a half-dozen Forest Area shots.

Paige Bell chipped in with 10 points and five steals, while Anna Hoffman finished the night for GT Academy with six points and seven boards.

For Forest Area, Jersey Patton led with 15 points and Desjanea Perkins collected 10 points.

The Mustangs (2-3) host Lake Leelanau St. Mary on Tuesday. Forest Area (0-6) welcomes Central Lake on Tuesday.
