There are two huge football matches this weekend with Manchester City taking on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final and Manchester United hosting Liverpool in the Premier League.

We’ll start at Old Trafford, where title-chasing Liverpool face their toughest away test for the remainder of the season when they take on huge rivals Manchester United.

With just Tottenham and Chelsea to visit Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side could take a huge step to winning their first championship for 30 years with victory over their bitter rivals and they could be value to do just that.

With just one defeat this season coming at the Etihad against Manchester City, Liverpool have already proved they would be worthy winners and can show their class against a resurgent Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost only to PSG since the Norwegian took the helm before Christmas but it might just to pay to oppose them tomorrow.

Manchester United have been blessed with an easy run of fixtures in the last few months and, despite beating a struggling Chelsea side and an out-of-form Arsenal in the FA Cup, they have struggled against classier sides.

Soundly beaten by PSG, United were also reliant on a world-class performance by David de Gea when holding on to beat Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley and Liverpool could put plenty of pressure on Manchester United’s defence, which is the weakest part of their team. Jurgen Klopp’s side make plenty of appeal at 13/10.

Despite playing out a 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich at Anfield in the Champions League in midweek, when less-expansive tactics than usual were influenced by the absence of Virgil Van Dijk in defence, Liverpool have not failed to score in any domestic league games this season, including in trips to the Emirates, the Etihad, Wembley and Stamford Bridge, which should mean De Gea is picking the ball out of his net at least once in this match.

Liverpool have the best defensive away record in the league, conceding just eight goals in 13 matches, but it’s interesting to note that Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal all scored home goals against Liverpool.

That suggests that a Liverpool win with both teams to score should be considered at 10/3, while a Liverpool win and over 2.5 goals in the match is available at 12/5.

Chelsea v Manchester City

Having been available at around 250/1 with Ladbrokes to win all four trophies at the start of the season, Manchester City are now just 14/1 with the same firm to pull off a spectacular quadruple, and should secure their first piece of silverware tomorrow.

Chelsea were thrashed 6-0 by Manchester City a fortnight ago, with his ponderous midfield and defence sliced apart and, sadly for Chelsea fans, everybody now knows that the stubborn Maurizio Sarri will change absolutely nothing as he bids to avenge that heavy defeat.

Despite Manchester City’s price of 4/7 sure to attract some big-hitters, the eye is drawn to the 15/8 about Manchester City to be leading after 30 minutes. Pep Guardiola’s side have been leading at that stage in 27 of their 42 games this season, which lends hope to an early Wembley breakthrough.
