Predators host Chiefs in home opener

Aug. 31—McCormick (0-2) at Fox Creek (0-2)

Last time they played

McCormick defeated Fox Creek 52-22 on Oct. 30, 2020.

Keys to the game

Fox Creek will again look to get its new-look offense on the scoreboard after generating a total of seven points through the Predators' first two games of the season. They rushed for 246 yards in the opener against St. Joseph's but also threw three interceptions, so they'll have to do a better job of taking care of the football.

Their first home game of the season comes against a McCormick team dealing with some injuries but one that also boasts dangerous running back A'Chean Durant, who already has multiple Division I scholarship offers. The Chiefs have faced some similar offensive struggles through two games, scoring a total of nine points against Abbeville and Lincoln County, but if Durant is on the field he's always capable of making a big play.

The Chiefs' passing attack has been almost nonexistent, and they're without some wide receivers due to injury, so defenses have been able to focus simply on stopping the run. That could be a welcome sight to a Predators defense looking to avoid giving up big yardage.
