Powerful players at net take top Licking County League volleyball honors

The rosters of Licking County's volleyball teams were filled with intimidating presences at the net, and they headline the recently released Licking County League teams.

Newark Catholic sophomore Natalie Harrington and Johnstown junior Kylie Sharp share LCL-Cardinal Division Player of the Year honors. Licking Heights senior Alyssa Hill is LCL-Buckeye Division Player of the Year.

Harrington totaled team highs of 238 kills and 56 aces, leading the Green Wave to the Cardinal Division championship. Sharp racked up team highs of 322 kills and 61 blocks for the Johnnies.

Hill recorded 135 kills and a team-high 63 blocks for the Hornets, leading them to a share of the Buckeye Division championship with Granville.

NC’s Brenden Pence is Cardinal Coach of the Year. Heights’ Tara Stout and Granville’s Courtney Ruppert share Buckeye Coach of the Year honors.

Joining Harrington and Sharp on the Cardinal first team are NC’s Ava Heffley, Johnstown’s Kate Ruffle, Heath’s Caroline Robertson, Utica’s Emilee Ellis, Northridge’s Tristan Orahood and Lakewood’s Aubrey Howell.

On the Buckeye first team are Hill's Heights teammate Taylor Porterfield, Granville’s Taylor Warehime and Clara Wildermuth, Licking Valley’s Makala Bennett, Watkins Memorial’s Riley Buechner and Zanesville’s Kamaria McCuen.

The Cardinal second team comprises NC’s Kylie Gibson and Jillian Given, Johnstown’s Emily Yanczura, Heath’s Kinley Kaminsky, Utica’s Hannah Shaver, Northridge’s Naia Moore and Lakewood’s Charlee Palmer.

Heights’ Layne Bodie and Brooklyn Hall, Granville’s Elle Mortimer and Raegan Schmidt, Valley’s Maddie Banks, Watkins’ Ella Barbour and Zanesville’s Olivia Bratlon make up the Buckeye second team.

The Cardinal honorable mention list includes NC’s Erin Keck, Johnstown’s Luciana Smith, Heath’s Logan Johnston, Utica’s Lexi Wiegand, Northridge’s Laney Higgins and Lakewood’s Kenna Parkison.

And the Buckeye's honorable mention players are Heights’ Ava VonBargen, Granville’s Olivia Priano, Valley’s Rylee Sensabaugh, Watkins’ Adalyn Rhodes and Zanesville’s Miyha Gladden.
