Potential for wet weather alters Gastonia, Shelby Week 9 high school football schedule

Kickoff for a few area high school football teams will come a day earlier than anticipated this week.

The threat of wet weather has moved four games from Friday to Thursday. As of 4:30 p.m., the list includes:

• Ashbrook at South Point

• Forestview at Crest, 7 p.m.

• Stuart Cramer at Kings Mountain

• North Gaston at Hunter Huss

According to the National Weather Service in Greer, South Carolina, there is a 50% chance of rain in Friday’s forecast. In comparison, there is only a 20% chance of precipitation Thursday evening.

• Bessemer City at Shelby

• Bishop McGuinness at Mountain Island Charter

• East Burke at Lincolnton

• East Gaston at Burns

• North Lincoln at Foard

• St. Stephens at East Lincoln

• Thomas Jefferson at Cherryville

• West Caldwell at West Lincoln

Kickoff for each game is 7:30 p.m., unless noted otherwise.
