KENT — A back-and-forth Battle of Route 43 ended in thrilling fashion with six lead changes in the fourth quarter before Roosevelt girls basketball ultimately edged Field, 48-46.

"It was back and forth," Rough Riders coach Craig Foreman said. "Obviously, you like to win big and all that type of stuff, you don't like to lose big, but those games are fun to be in."

After Roosevelt sophomore Lindsay Wells found senior Arie Wilson for the game-tying bucket with 2:30 remaining, junior Julia Nash provided a 5-point swing that put the home team in front for good. Knotted at 41, Nash raced forward on a 2-on-1, with Wells by her side. With the defender looking to take away the pass, the pass-first guard barreled through contact for a 3-point play with 1:58 left.

"That's where her captain leadership is coming into play," Foreman said. "She realized, and it's nothing against Lindsay by any stretch, but you're the leader. Let's finish this. We need to finish this and she did."

Nash (9 points, 5 assists) then added a drive-and-drop as she surged into the lane and lofted a pass to sophomore post Claire VanDamme (11 points, 7 rebounds) for a layup and a 5-point lead with 1:10 remaining.

That 5-point lead came in handy as Ally Harlin buried a 3-pointer to draw within two, with fellow Field junior Abby Harlin later answering a couple of Roosevelt free throws with a short second-chance jumper along the baseline to again get within a basket in the final minute.

The Falcons (9-7) nearly tied the game with 9.1 seconds left as junior Delilah Rahe drove through contact and knocked down a runner from the top of the paint — except she was called for a charge, with Wells drawing the whistle.

"That was a big moment for us because Lindsay plays here and there, but sometimes she's had some 0-for games, meaning that she doesn't play at all, but she fit in a good role today, defensively," Foreman said of his sophomore. "She took that huge charge on Delilah, which, my gosh, calling that on Delilah then and it's Lindsay Wells and so that was pretty cool. That was a big moment."

Outside of that whistle, not much could stop Rahe as she led all players with 20 points and 18 rebounds, including a block, steal and three straight buckets to erase the Rough Riders' five-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

"She's special," Falcons coach John Misenko said. "I'm glad she's on our team and she does everything for us and she does it with the other team knowing that they need to stop her also, which makes it even more special."

Wilson led Roosevelt (7-7) with 14 points, 12 coming in the second half, including making 3-of-6 from deep over the final 16 minutes.

Aurora 52, Chagrin Falls 43

Sam Stask drained five 3-pointers and led the Greenmen with 17 points as they picked up their 10th win of the season. Julia Miller added 15 points for Aurora (10-4). Chagrin Falls' Lilly Stukus led all scorers with 19 points, making all six of her free-throw attempts.

Rootstown 72, Badger 47

Up 10 after 24 minutes at the Berkshire Hoopfest, the Rovers clinched victory with a 23-8 fourth quarter. Addy Germann secured MVP honors with four 3-pointers and a team-leading 16 points while Nadia Lough (15 points, 15 rebounds) contributed a double-double for Rootstown (13-1).

Western Reserve 39, Mogadore 38 (OT)

The Wildcats fell in overtime despite a double-double from Amelia Morris (14 points, 10 rebounds). Ari Tompkins (8 points), Rylee Clark (6), Olivia Kidd (5) and Julie Tompkins (5) all added multiple baskets for Mogadore (5-7).
