Rootstown hadn't lost a Portage Trail Conference softball game in nearly two years.

Southeast snapped that streak with a 3-1 victory Tuesday in a game that was called in the top of the sixth because of weather.

Pirates freshman pitcher Miranda Timko limited the Rovers to a single run on two hits in five innings, striking out 10 against just three walks.

Morgan Muncy gave Southeast an early lead with a home run in the first. Muncy and Timko both went 2 for 3 at the plate, with Muncy scoring twice and Timko knocking in a run in the fifth as the Pirates took the lead for good. Neena Truex drew two walks and stole two bases for Southeast.

Kaitlyn Hammerschmidt had Rootstown's lone extra-base hit and RBI with a double.

Aurora 13, Roosevelt 0

McKennah Metzger had another memorable performance, tossing four hitless and scoreless innings against the Rough Riders. The Coastal Carolina commit also doubled and homered for the Greenmen.

Sophie Petrash, Sophie Retton and Avery Qualters added multiple hits, including a double apiece. A third Sophie — Schecterman — also doubled as the Greenmen finished with seven doubles.

Field 22, Woodridge 8

The host Falcons broke open a Metro Athletic Conference game with 18 runs in the second inning.

Delilah Rahe hit her first homer of the year for Field (5-0, 3-0), which also got three singles apiece from Olivia Dyer and Kailyn Gressman.

Maddie Burge got the win in the circle and had a double, triple and three RBIs at the plate. McKayla Miller and Lilli Sutkowy added two singles apiece.

Norton 10, Ravenna 0

Whitney Holmes went 2 for 3 to lead the Ravens, who also got a hit apiece from Angelina Fuller and Mallory Sterba.

Baseball

Roosevelt 5, Copley 4 (8)

Scottie Spears delivered a walk-off hit for the Rough Riders (6-2, 2-0 Suburban American), who answered Copley's run in the top of the eighth with two in the bottom of the inning.

Brayden Darkow tossed 4⅔ innings in relief to pick up the win for the Rough Riders, allowing a single run and striking out five. Sam Lanier and Teddy Maccarone singled and doubled for Roosevelt, which also got multiple hits from Jack Smith.

Garfield 8, Champion 0

Eric Geddes tossed a four-hit shutout for the G-Men, striking out 15 batters.

Brandyn Bogucki, Leo Grandizio, Aidan Hill and Tyler Lutz all had multiple hits as Garfield broke open a scoreless game through two innings by scoring in four straight innings.

Aurora 10, Cuyahoga Falls 0

Alex Kaczmarek tossed a one-hit shutout for the Greenmen, striking out five and not walking a batter.

Up 2-0 through three innings, Aurora broke the game open with four runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings. Dom Trivisonno had a huge game, going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Alex Brooker also doubled, singled and drove in multiple runs, and Aydan Carlson and Tommy Hach each added multiple hits.

Streetsboro 25, Springfield 3

The Rockets scored double-digit runs in the first and fourth innings, with Jack Batten, Jack Pincoe and Scott Wilson scoring four runs apiece. Batten and Wilson each doubled twice for Streetsboro while Jayden Coffie went 4 for 4 with a team-leading five RBIs.

JFK 8, Southeast 0

The Eagles broke the game open with four runs apiece in the first two innings.

Nate Muncy and Joe Sharish each singled for the Pirates.

Fairport Harding 16, Windham 9

The Skippers took control with nine runs in the bottom of the second. Jacob Cody and Jack Eye had two hits apiece for the Bombers, with Cody driving in two runs and Eye doubling and scoring three runs.

Tennis

Ravenna 4, Akron Garfield 1

Preston Hatcher and Lily Schofield scored commanding wins at first and third singles, respectively, while the Ravens also swept doubles play.
