Portage high school scores | Dec. 19: Roosevelt hoops tops Revere in Suburban showdown
Roosevelt won its third Suburban American boys basketball game in eight days, topping visiting Revere 58-54 Tuesday.
The Rough Riders (4-3, 3-1) outscored the Minutemen — the 2022-2023 Suburban American champions — by four in each of the first two quarters and hung on late.
Roosevelt won with balance as seven different players tallied multiple field goals, with Jaden Dennison, Tyrel Ellington and Jeremiah Lepp tying for the team lead with nine points apiece.
Carson Banks led all scorers with 23 points for Revere.
Garfield 63, Champion 42
The G-Men picked up their first win behind Preston Gedeon (21 points) and Eric Geddes (17), who combined to score 38 points. Aidan Hill and Tyler Lutz added eight points apiece for Garfield, which took control with a 17-5 first quarter. The G-Men were similarly dominant to start the second half, outscoring the Golden Flashes 19-6 in the third quarter.
Highland 50, Aurora 48
The Greenmen lost their third straight game despite a combined 39 points from Cooper Carnahan (24) and Zach Pannetti (15). Aurora led 45-38 after 24 minutes before Highland took over the fourth quarter.
Girls Basketball
Crestwood 37, Wickliffe 20
Becca Brady and Hannah Ward scored 10 points apiece as the Red Devils (5-3, 4-1 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division) won their fourth straight, all in league play.
Up 18-12 at the half, Crestwood shut out Wickliffe in the third quarter to build a more comfortable advantage.
