Police say Bengals’ Joe Mixon not a suspect in shooting near his home
The investigation of the shooting connected to the home of Cincinnati Bengals running Joe Mixon received several critical updates on Thursday.
Most notably, the Hamilton county sheriff’s office has identified two suspects in the shooting and Mixon is not one, according to WLWT’s Sheree Paolello.
During the incident on Monday night, it was Mixon’s trainer who dialed 911 and relayed the information of a NERF gun war (NERF blasters that fire foam darts) event that allegedly developed into a shooting incident in which one juvenile suffered a foot injury.
WCPO’s Taylor Weiter, Molly Schramm and Taylor Nimmo reported that defense attorneys Scott Croswell and Merlyn Shiverdecker will represent Mixon and provided the following note about the shooting:
In a letter to parents, Forest Hills School District confirmed the person injured went to Anderson High School. The incident report says the student was shot in the foot, and the school district said they’re OK and at home.
“It’s my belief that this thing is probably going to be resolved by this time next week,” Shiverdecker told ESPN’s Ben Baby.
The shooting took place Monday night around 8:30 p.m. ET, with reporters seeing authorities entering Mixon’s home around 1:30 a.m., before the situation was resolved a few hours later.
As of this writing, no arrests have been made or charges filed and both the Bengals and Mixon’s representatives have issued no statements.
