Plenty of basketball action on Tuesday's high school schedule

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division I

Hendricken 37, Cranston East 35

In a game dominated by the defenders, Hendricken managed to escape with a win over Cranston East. Will Cary scored a team-high 11 points for the Hawks.

Cumberland 75, Portsmouth 67

Conner Allard scored a team-high 20 points and three teammates, Joe Parenteau, Luke Plumer and Hunter Zancan had 14 points each as Cumberland got the better of Portsmouth. The win spoiled a solid effort by the Clippers' Adam Conheeny, who scored 34 points, including four from behind the arc.

Westerly 61, North Kingstown 55

The Bulldogs rallied back from a six-point halftime deficit on the play of Jesse Samo and Romello Hamelin, who each scored 19 points, and knocked off North Kingstown. Samo also pulled down 13 rebounds for a double-double and Hamelin added 6 assists and 4 steals. Michael DeOrsey scored 21 points for the Skippers.

La Salle 57, East Greenwich 38

Rex Zadrozny's double-double — 17 points 15 rebounds — helped the Rams dominate in the Division I encounter.

Division II

Johnston 49, Coventry 43

Mike Carlino knocked down five 3-pointers for 15 of his game-high 17 points, Branden Testa scored 14 and NeAri Vasquez added 10 points in Johnston's win over Coventry. Logan Voelker, Logan Moore and Tyler Broady combined for all but 5 of the Oakers' points.

Lincoln 89, Times2 36

Three Lincoln players scored 20 points or more in the Lions' lopsided victory over Times2. Josh Bergeron knocked down a game-high 23 points (including 7 threes), Camden DiChiara was right behind him, scoring 22 points, and Wayne McNamara added 20. Samuel Feliz and Steven Garcia scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Times2.

Cranston West 61, Hope 27

The play of Adreyan Perez (18 points) and Jaymien Aponte (16 points) lifted the Falcons to a win over the the Blue Wave.

Division III

Mount St. Charles 59, Achievement First 32

Mount St. Charles jumped out to a 42-11 first-half lead on the strength of 9 three-pointers and rolled to victory over Achievement First. Peter Burke led the way for the Mounties with 19 points, including five shots from beyond the 3-point arc. Tyler Dias scored 10 points with 2 threes and Michael Hebert added 9 points, all as a result of 3 threes. Jkwon Vanover topped Achievement First with 12 points and teammate Fred Browne added 8 in the loss.

West Warwick 56, Prout 53

In a Division III see-saw battle, West Warwick's Caden Lapierre scored 16 points and Owen Sterns had 13 as the Wizards outlasted Prout. The Crusaders got a strong performance from Ryan Antonucci, who scored 15 points.

Burrillville 67, Chariho 43

Nolan Serafin and Logan Gelinas had solid outings as Burrillville got by Chariho. Serafin had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and Gelinas had 22 points and 5 rebounds. For the Chargers, Chris Koslosky had 23 points to lead all scorers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Division I

North Kingstown 48, Portsmouth 42

Jaelyn Holmes scored 10 points and Brooke Faunce added 9 as the Skippers got Division I play started on the right foot against the Patriots. For Portsmouth, Gyselle Mairs led all scorers with 17, and Annie Hurd had 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in the loss.

Division III

Narragansett 46, North Providence 25

Grace Blessing scored a game-high 16 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and dished off 5 assists, and teammate Brooke Caffrey had 11 points, 8 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals, as Narragansett upended North Providence. Lusi Hagopian topped the Cougars in scoring with 10 points in the loss.
