Players of the Year from Smyrna, Delmar lead All-State field hockey teams

Players of the Year Dru Moffett of Smyrna (Division I) and Jordyn Hollamon of Delmar (Division II) lead the All-State teams released by the Delaware High School Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Moffett, a senior, joins her sister Bree Moffett, McKenna Wilson and goalkeeper Halle Geiger as Smyrna teammates on the Division I first team.

D-I state champion Cape Henlopen placed five players on the first team – Devon DeGregory, Hannah Maney, Louise Rishko, Grace Wiggins and goalkeeper Morgan Newcomb.

Milford’s Erin Dunlap, Bailey Masten and Hannah Zimmerman and Charter of Wilmington’s Alexa Guarneri also made the Division I first team.

Hollamon, a junior, scored the first four goals as Delmar thumped Newark Charter 6-0 in the championship game of the DIAA Division II tournament, the Wildcats’ eighth consecutive title.

She joins Delmar teammates Emily Bitters, Laela Brown and Baylie Phillips on the Division II first team.

Newark Charter also placed four players on the top D-II team – Kate Ambrose, Audrey Nelson, Amanda Rattay and goalkeeper Riley Redding.

Others on the Division II first team include Archmere’s Maura Read and Katie Schaller, Caravel’s Katie Cole, Hailey Haynes and Hayden Haynes, Lake Forest goalkeeper Madison Lawson, Sussex Academy’s Rilyn Lehman, Saint Mark’s Katie Hanich and Cat Kaminski, Tatnall’s Carolyn Walker, Tower Hill’s Ryan Spagnolo and Wilmington Friends’ Sawyer Rowland and Ella Fontanazza.

Caravel was selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year.
