Here are the players in preseason camp with FC Cincinnati so far

FC Cincinnati confirmed on Tuesday its current roster for the 2022 Major League Soccer preseason, and the club has a fair number of moving parts at this time.

Included in the club's ranks during the current phase of preseason in Clearwater, Florida are 28 total players. That number includes four academy players and two unsigned MLS SuperDraft picks.

Most interesting though are the absences of multiple players including Brenner Souza da Silva, the club's single-season record goal scorer during the 2021 season, and Alvaro Barreal.

Both players are listed on the preseason roster although they're yet to join the team due to travel issues, according to the team.

Also missing from the team's ranks and omitted from the current roster are Ronald Matarrita, Allan Cruz, Alvas Powell, Beckham Sunderland, John Nelson and Kyle Scott.

Matarrita and Powell are both away during the current window for FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying with the Costa Rican and Jamaican national teams, respectively.

The absence of Cruz, of Costa Rica, wasn't specifically addressed publicly but he was present for last week's practices at the club's Mercy Health Training Center in MIlford.

Indications so far point to FC Cincinnati expecting both players to join the team for preseason, which would rule out the possibility of moves elsewhere.

FC Cincinnati on Friday plays its first preseason scrimmage against South Florida. The regular season is scheduled to begin Feb. 26 against Austin FC.
