Pirates held to 2 hits, 1 after 1st inning in loss to A’s

It was the same song and dance for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.

The team just couldn’t get much done offensively in a 5-1 loss to the Oakland A’s at the Coliseum in the opening game of a three-game set.

Ke’Bryan Hayes led off the game with a single, and that would end up being the Pirates’ lone hit until there was one out in the top of the ninth. Oneil Cruz singled but was erased on a game-ending double play off the bat of Andrew McCutchen.
