Philadelphia Eagles-Seattle Seahawks Week 15 game flexed to Monday Night Football

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham celebrates after a sack against the Buffalo Bills during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Eagles' Sunday, Dec. 17, game against the Seattle Seahawks will move to Monday Night Football.

It will be the first time a Monday Night Football game will be flexed, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The league can move games in and out of Monday Night Football anytime between Weeks 12 through 17. This season is the first in which the NFL has provided this option.

Previously, the flex scheduling was reserved for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" when late-season showdowns lost their luster. The game originally scheduled for Dec. 18 was Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots. The Eagles (10-1) vs. Seattle (6-5) should have major playoff implications.

The Eagles are currently in the driver's seat for the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed for the second straight year, while Seattle is clinging to a wild-card berth ahead of Thursday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys. The Chiefs are also trying to get home-field advantage and a first-round bye in back-to-back seasons, and playing the lowly Patriots, who are in last place overall in the AFC, will likely propel Kansas City toward that objective.

The flex also gives the Eagles an extra day of rest after facing NFC East rival Dallas the previous week on Sunday Night Football.

Philadelphia Eagles lead NFL in Monday Night Football appearances

The Seahawks game would be the Eagles' third appearance on Monday Night Football this season – the most in the NFL, barring more flex scheduling. The Eagles also play on Christmas Day, which is a Monday.

So far, Philadelphia is 2-0 on Monday nights. The Eagles defeated Tampa Bay 25-11 in Week 3 and Kansas City 21-17 in Week 11.
