PFF: Mark Glowinski has Giants’ best contract
The New York Giants are not exactly known for handing out good contracts. Even dating back to the later days of Jerry Reese, that has not exactly been their strong suit.
That issue became compounded under Dave Gettleman and his assistant, Kevin Abrams. They routinely handed out some of the league’s worst and most-bloated contracts — even as recently as 2021 (see: Kenny Golladay).
But change breeds hope, and now it’s Joe Schoen calling the shots for Big Blue.
In his first offseason as GM, Schoen went to work on cleaning up some of the Giants’ bad contracts and trimming the team’s salary cap. That left him with little money to work with in free agency and a need to get creative with deals.
Schoen handed out a few one-year, prove-it deals with his only big splash coming by way of veteran guard Mark Glowinski. And perhaps somewhat fittingly, Pro Football Focus recently named Glowinski’s contract the Giants’ best.

The Giants have had a revolving door along their interior offensive line the past several years, and they went out and got a known commodity in Glowinski to line up next to first-round rookie Evan Neal at right tackle.
During Glowinski’s four years with the Indianapolis Colts, he earned grades above 60.0 in each season, with 64.0-plus run-blocking grades to boot. He provides a solid veteran presence on a young offensive line, much like he did with the Colts’ young and talented group over the past few seasons.
Glowinski hasn’t exactly been dominant throughout his career, but he’s consistently above average. That’s a major improvement for the Giants, who have struggled with offensive linemen for nearly a decade.
A year from now, provided Glowinski plays well, his contract will go from “fair” to “team-friendly” and a feather will be placed in Schoen’s cap.
