Peyton Manning announces a second scholarship honoring Demaryius Thomas

Last week, former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his wife, Ashley, announced the Demaryius A. Thomas Scholarship Endowment for Georgia Tech students from Thomas’ home area.

Thomas, who won Super Bowl 50 with Manning, died last December.

Manning announced a second scholarship honoring Thomas’ memory during the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony on Wednesday.

Manning and the CSHOF have launched an “18 to 88” scholarship that will grant $10,000 each year to a senior high school athlete who’s overcome adversity in Colorado.

“I wanted to do something for him in Denver where he made his mark as an NFL player and had such a big impact on this community,” Manning said, via Aric DiLalla of DenverBroncos.com. “… [We’re] trying to keep Demaryius’ legacy alive, but also paying it forward, which is what he was all about.”

Thomas and Manning were teammates from 2012-2015, helping the Broncos reach two Super Bowls in a four-year period. They will undoubtedly both go into the team’s Ring of Fame once eligible.
