Peyton Manning announced as 'College GameDay' guest picker for Tennessee-Alabama game

Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning will serve as the guest picker for “College GameDay” prior to the Vols' showdown with Alabama on Saturday.

Manning went 3-1 in his college career against Alabama, becoming the first quarterback in program history to win three straight against the Crimson Tide from 1995-97. In the four games, he was 65-for-109 passing for 919 yards and seven touchdowns.

A Pro Football Hall of Famer, Manning finished his UT career holding 42 records for NCAA, SEC or program history.

Manning's appearance on the Knoxville campus comes as No. 8 Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) gets set to face No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0) in one of the most anticipated games in Neyland Stadium history.

"College GameDay" will air Saturday on ESPN from 9 a.m. to noon ET from Ayres Hall on the UT campus. Rece Davis is the host and is joined by analysts Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, David Pollack and Pat McAfee.

Saturday marks the 11th time Tennessee has hosted "College GameDay." It is the first time for a Tennessee vs. Alabama game. The Vols have a 3-5 record in SEC home games with "College GameDay" present and have won two straight. Tennessee previously hosted the show twice in the same season in 2002.

WWE wrestler Bianca Belair was the celebrity guest picker when "College GameDay" visited Knoxville for UT vs. Florida earlier this season. The Knoxville native is a former UT track and field star.
