Percy Harvin has hip surgery

The Seattle Seahawks aren't giving up hope that wide receiver Percy Harvin might play this season.

Harvin underwent surgery for a hip injury in New York, which went well, according to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

“With all the information that we got, we’re more hopeful that he will have a chance to get back," Carroll told Seattle reporters.

However, Harvin is expected to be out for a long time.

He's on the physically unable to perform list and is expected to at least the first six games of the regular season, if not longer.

The Seahawks signed tight end Andrei Lintz, claiming wide receiver Perez Ashford off waivers from the New England Patriots, cutting running back Ray Holley and wide receiver Greg Herd.
