Patriots place safety Adrian Wilson on injured reserve

The New England Patriots placed veteran safety Adrian Wilson on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Patritos also cut outside linebacker Jermaine Cunnngham, defensive lineman Justin Francis, punter Zoltan Mesko, quarterback Tim Tebow and linebacker Jeff Tarpinian.

The Patriots released defensive lineman Marcus Forston, linebacker Ja’Gared Davis, safety Kanorris Davis, defensive back Justin Green, offensive lineman Chris McDonald, defensive back Stephon Morris, wide receiver Quentin Sims and running back George Winn.

Wilson, 33, joined the Patriots as free agent on March 16, 2013 after 12-year career with the Arizona Cardinals.

“I would like to thank Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization," Tebow said in a statement. "I pray for nothing but the best for you all. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback."

This could mark the end of Tebow's career after winning a Heisman Trophy at Florida, finding some success with the Denver Broncos and not being utilized with the New York Jets last season.

He completed 11 of 30 passes this preseason for 145 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions and was sacked seven times.
