Patriots looking to avoid snapping this streak vs Steelers
The New England Patriots will have a streak on the line, as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday.
The Patriots lost to the Miami Dolphins by a 20-7 score in Week 1. If they lose to the Steelers in Week 2, their record would fall to 0-2. That has not happened since 2001, making it the longest active streak in the NFL without starting a season 0-2.
In the 2001 season, New England lost to the Cincinnati Bengals to open the year by a 23-17 score. They then followed that up with a loss to the New York Jets by a 3-10 margin.
The Jets game also holds significance in New England history, though largely for a different reason. New York Jets linebacker Mo Lewis would knock quarterback Drew Bledsoe out of the game in the fourth quarter. This would pave the way for Tom Brady.

In the meantime, New England is hoping that history does not repeat itself as they get set to face a Steelers team that is coming off a stout win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
