Patriots hosting projected first-round edge rusher on pre-draft visit
Adding another pass-rusher might not be at the top of the New England Patriots’ to-do list, but they are clearly keeping their options open with Clemson prospect Myles Murphy coming to town for a visit.
The standout ACC pass-rusher is projected to be taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft, but given the unpredictable nature of the draft board, the Patriots are doing their due diligence in evaluating the player.
Granted, it might also be more to it than that.
Perhaps the team would consider taking a pass-rusher instead of a receiver, cornerback or offensive tackle early. That also isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
Looks like Clemson EDGE Myles Murphy is in town to meet with the Patriots. He’s the fourth projected first-round edge rusher to visit NE, joining Tyree Wilson, Nolan Smith and Lukas Van Ness.

Murphy finished his 2022 season at Clemson with 40 tackles, two pass deflections and 6.5 sacks. His presence up front would give the defense an immediate boost, along with serving as more of a long-term answer for the team if Josh Uche doesn’t re-sign in 2024.
A team can never have enough pass-rushers. Adding Murphy to the Patriots’ roster would give even more firepower to a defensive unit that carried the team last year.
