Patrik Laine suddenly leads the NHL in goals

Sure, Winnipeg Jets fans love to pack the Bell MTS Centre. Something tells me though they wouldn’t mind donating a home date to a rink in Helsinki every year.

Since making the trek home to serve as an ambassador for the NHL’s Global Series while stuck on three goals through 12 games to start the season, Patrik Laine has nearly literally lit the world on fire.

A FIVE-goal game Saturday versus the St. Louis Blues makes 16 snipes in 10 games so far in November, and 11 goals in the last four games. He has three hat tricks this month.

And suddenly he leads Jeff Skinner by one in the race for the Rocket Richard with 19 goals.

What?

We’d love to show you all five goals but at the risk of your device imploding due to stresses on bandwidth, here’s the hat-trick goal and maybe the best of the five — even if the aesthetic was much about Kyle Conner’s feathery feed:

So even though it’s the first five-goal game in more than a decade, we may have buried the lede here.

TSN’s Frank Seravalli has noted that Laine’s five-goal game has made a Winnipeg man $1 million richer.
