Patrick Marleau spends third period scoring four goals vs. Avs (Video)
The San Jose Sharks beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Monday night and were powered in a big way by Patrick Marleau. The veteran forward not only tallied his third fifth career NHL hat trick, but added another one for his first ever four-goal game. And he did all of his work in the third period.

Brent Burns put home his 20th of the year to open the scoring in the first period, which was matched by Jarome Iginla with his sixth midway through the second period.

In the final period, it was the Marleau show. He picked up his first two of the night 3:04 apart early on and finished the natural hat trick five minutes later. His final goal of the night came with 3:37 to go and was probably his nicest as he helped the Sharks to their fifth straight win.

That’s a pretty nice way to break out of a seven-game goal drought.
