Panthers signing TE Hayden Hurst to 3-year deal

Over the past three seasons, all Carolina Panthers tight ends have combined for 1,073 receiving yards and six touchdowns. That’s, uh, not good.

So, they’re looking to add some catch-passing prowess. And maybe they’ll have that in Hayden Hurst, who—as first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday morning—is expected to sign with the team on a three-year deal.

A former University of South Carolina Gamecock, Hurst cracked into the NFL as a first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2018. He’d spend two seasons there—amassing 512 yards and three touchdowns off 43 receptions.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder moved on to the Atlanta Falcons, where a career campaign was awaiting him in 2020. He recorded bests in receptions (56), receiving yards (571) and receiving touchdowns (six) that season.

Hurst, who will turn 30 years old in August, suited up for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. He started each of the 13 games he played in—totaling 52 grabs, 414 yards and a pair of scores.
