How have the Packers fared against Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes?

The Green Bay Packers will face off with perhaps the greatest NFL quarterback of the past half-decade — Patrick Mahomes — when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Lambeau Field on Sunday night.

How have the Packers fared against Mahomes? The thing is, they've barely seen him.

The Packers have only played the Chiefs twice in the Mahomes era but have only seen him in a game once, in 2021. And Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers have never squared off head-to-head, each missing a game in the previous two meetings between the two teams.

In 2021, the Chiefs became the extra opponent on the schedule when the NFL expanded to a 17-game slate, and the Packers traveled to Arrowhead on Nov. 7 in a 13-7 loss.

That game, of course, took place without Rodgers, who was sidelined in the COVID-19 protocol, and instead became the first career start for Jordan Love — his only start before the 2023 season.

Mahomes completed 20 of 37 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown. The Packers scored on a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to Allen Lazard but never got the ball back. A 22-yard pass from Mahomes to Travis Kelce on the final series helped ice the game, as did a 13-yard connection to Tyreek Hill on 3rd-and-10 from near midfield right after the 2-minute warning.

In 2019, Mahomes missed two games when he dislocated a kneecap, and one of those came against the visiting Packers in a 31-24 Green Bay win. The high-profile Sunday night game between the 6-1 Packers and 5-2 Chiefs instead took place with Matt Moore under center for Kansas City.

Aaron Jones ran a 67-yard pass to the house for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, and the game might best be remembered for a ridiculous pass by Rodgers to Jamaal Williams in the back of the end zone earlier in the final quarter.

Moore completed 24 of 36 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs got the last laugh, advancing to the Super Bowl and prevailing over the San Francisco 49ers, who had blown out the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
