Packed field: Furyk & Friends will include six Hall of Fame members, 14 major champions

Davis Love III of St. Simons Island, Ga., will be the only player in the field for the Constellation Furyk & Friends who has won a major championship, a Players Championship and is in the World Golf Hall of Fame. He gave his Hall of Fame induction speech in 2017 holding his grandaughter Eloise.

The field for the Constellation Furyk & Friends PGA Tour Champions event Oct. 6-8 at the Timuquana Country Club will be a living, breathing and shot-making page from nearly 40 years of golf history.

The 75-player field, finalized on Saturday, includes six members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, 14 players who have combined for 23 major championships and five players who have won The Players Championship.

Three more will be added after a Monday qualifier at the TPC Sawgrass Dye's Valley.

Davis Love III of St. Simons Island, Ga., is the only player who has all three: a major (the 1997 PGA Championship), a Players (two, in 1993 and 2002) and a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Other Hall of Fame members in the field are Vijay Singh of Ponte Vedra Beach, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie. Singh, Els, Goosen and Langer have combined for 11 majors.

Other major champions playing at Timuquana are Jacksonville native David Duval, tournament host and Jacksonville resident Jim Furyk, Mark Calcavecchia, John Daly, Lee Janzen, Corey Pavin, Jeff Sluman, Mike Weir and Y.E. Yang.

The oldest major champion in the field is Langer at 66 years old. He won the first of his two Masters titles in 1985 and with one more Champions Tour victory will pull out of a tie with Hale Irwin for the most all-time victories on the Tour with 46.

Love, Duval, Stephen Ames and Fred Funk have also won The Players.

Defending champion Steve Stricker, Langer and Ames are the top-three in the Schwab Cup points race. Sixteen of the top-20 on the points list will be at Timquana, with only two tournaments left before the Schwab Cup playoffs.
