Owen McCown throws 2 TD passes in UTSA's loss to No. 20 Tennessee

Sep. 24—KNOXVILLE, Tn. — Owen McCown, a former prep standout at Rusk High School, made his debut for the University of Texas San Antonio Saturday when the Roadrunners fell, 45-14 to the Volunteers in Knoxville.

Trailing 31-0 at halftime, McCown entered the game to start the second half. He tossed two touchdown passes in the third quarter, a 3-yard pass to Joshua Cephus and a 43-yard scoring strike to Tykee Ogle-Kellogg.

McCown, a transfer from Colorado University and son of Josh and Natalie McCown, went 16-20-1 for 170 yards.

On a side note, Devin McCuin, a true freshman out of Jacksonville High School, caught four passes for 35 yards.

Texas San Antonio (1-2) has an open date this week before opening American Athletic Conference play by visiting Temple University on October 3 (kick-off time to be announced).

Tennessee moved to 2-1 with the triumph.
