OU softball has seven players, Oklahoma State one on preseason All-Big 12 team
With its move to the Southeastern Conference looming, OU dominated its final preseason All-Big 12 softball team.
Seven Sooners were named to the 19-player team, led by infielder Tiare Jennings, who was one of three unanimous selections to the squad. Baylor infielder Shaylon Govan and Texas utility player Mia Scott were the others.
The other players from the three-time defending national champion Sooners were outfielder Rylie Boone, utility player Alyssa Brito, outfielder Jayda Coleman, catcher Kinzie Hansen and pitchers Kelly Maxwell and Nicole May.
Oklahoma State pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl earned mention on the list as the Cowgirls seek their fifth straight Women’s College World Series appearance. Only OU and OSU have made each of the last four WCWS fields.
Texas had five players on the team, joining OU as the only programs with multiple selections.
Three newcomers to the league, BYU, Central Florida and Houston, earned a spot each. Here is the full list:
