OU basketball announces 2023-24 nonconference schedule, return to McCasland Field House

NORMAN — The OU men's basketball team announced its nonconference schedule for 2023-24 season on Tuesday.

The Sooners are set to face 13 nonconference foes and compete in three invitationals along the way. Here's a complete look at the schedule:

  • Nov. 6: Central Michigan in Norman (Lloyd Noble Center)

  • Nov. 10: Mississippi Valley State in Norman (Lloyd Noble Center)

  • Nov. 14: Texas State in Norman (Lloyd Noble Center)

  • Nov. 17: UTRGV in Norman (Lloyd Noble Center)

  • Nov. 23: Seton Hall, Iowa or USC in San Diego, Calif. (LionTree Arena)^

  • Nov. 24: Seton Hall, Iowa or USC in San Diego, Calif. (LionTree Arena)^

  • Nov. 30: Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Norman (McCasland Field House)

Biggest takeaways from OU men's basketball schedule

The Sooners begin their nonconference schedule with four home games against mid-major opponents.

OU will face Central Michigan, Mississippi Valley State, Texas State and UTRGV. The Sooners have a combined all-time record of 11-0 against the four teams.

The Sooners will then compete in the inaugural Rady Children's Invitational from Nov. 23-24. The four-team tournament features OU, Seton Hall, Iowa and USC.

OU will then return to Norman on Nov. 30 to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff in McCasland Field House, which served as the program's home venue from 1928-1975. The Sooners last played at McCasland Field House on Dec. 31, 2012.

Following a home game against Providence on Dec. 5, OU will continue the Crimson & Cardinal Classic series with a game against Arkansas at the BOK Center in Tulsa. The Sooners won the 2021 contest but lost to the Razorbacks in last season's rematch.

OU will then host Green Bay on Dec. 16 before traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Jumpman Invitational. It'll face North Carolina on Dec. 20.

Finally, the Sooners will complete their nonconference schedule with a pair of home games against Central Arkansas and Monmouth on Dec. 28 and Dec. 31, respectively.
