New Orleans Saints schedule: Odds, injury news, and how to watch Week 5 game vs. Patriots
In Week 4, the New Orleans Saints, led by Derek Carr, suffered a 26-9 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Baker Mayfield leading the charge. This second consecutive loss brought the Saints' record to 2-2 as they prepare to face the New England Patriots (1-3) at Gillette Stadium in their Week 5 game.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr played in Week 4 despite an AC joint injury he suffered in Week 3. He completed 23 out of 37 attempted passes for 127 yards, averaging 3.4 yards per play against the Buccaneers.
After the game, Carr told the Associated Press, "That's not an excuse for the way we played today. I just don't want my shoulder to be an excuse for the way we executed."
The New England Patriots suffered a 38-3 defeat against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, their Week 4 loss was compounded by injuries to rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez and linebacker Matthew Judon, who had to leave the game due to their injuries and are unsure if they will be ready for the match-up against the Saints.
Despite the significant loss, the Patriots are a 1-point favorite over the Saints in Week 5.
