‘Please, please come’: 911 caller describes fatal northeast Raleigh shooting near bar

A 31-year-old man was shot and killed in northeast Raleigh after a fight broke out by a sports bar early Sunday morning, according to audio from a 911 call about the shooting.

Raleigh police said they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2600 block of East Millbrook Road around 2:40 a.m.

Edward Eugene Morrow, 31, died at the hospital, officials said in a news release. He was shot once.

The other man, whom police did not identify, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Laura Hourigan, a police spokeswoman, said the shooting victims knew one another. She declined to say whether the shooting appeared to be random.

But a 911 caller said the shooting happened after a fight broke out by the Rose Bar on East Millbrook Road.

“Please, please, please come,” the caller repeated over and over, as car horns and screams blare in the background.

“I don’t know what to do,” the caller said.

It was the second fatal shooting in northeast Raleigh in less than 48 hours.

Jose Luis Hernandez-Gutierrez, 46, was shot and killed Friday morning in the parking lot of a strip mall on Craftsman Drive, The News & Observer reported.

Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in that shooting.
