On3 names Jarquez Hunter one of the top 100 players in college football
The 2023 college football season is just 100 days away and On3 decided to commemorate the occasion by unveiling its list of the top 100 players in the sport.
Jarquez Hunter was the only Auburn Tiger to make the list with On3’s Charles Power and Clark Brooks ranking him as the No. 56 player in the country.
That makes him the No. 5 running back in the country, behind Blake Corum (Mighigan), Quinshon Judkins (Ole Miss), Nick Singelton (Penn State) and Raheim Sanders (Arkansas).
Hunter is entering his first season as Auburn’s top running back but has already shown what he can do. The Philadelphia, Mississippi native rushed for 668 yards and seven touchdowns as the backup to Tank Bigsby last season.
Hunter has been efficient throughout his time on the Plains, he’s averaged 6.5 yards per carry and has racked up 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns in his two seasons on the Plains.
Hugh Freeze has high expectations for the 5-foot-10, 202-pounder, calling him the “best running back I’ve ever coached, truthfully.”
With Auburn overhauling its passing attack through the transfer portal, Hunter is the Tiger’s most proven playmaker and will have a great shot at becoming Freeze’s second-ever 1,000-yard rusher.
