Ole Miss lands top JUCO running back

Hugh Freeze continues to prove that last February's recruiting haul was no fluke, as the second-year Ole Miss head coach received a commitment from top junior-college running back Akeem Judd on Sunday.

After bringing in four running backs in its 2013 class, Ole Miss sought a bruising back such as the 6-foot, 215-pounder in its Class of 2014. And the Georgia Military College (JC) product fits that profile.

Judd, who chose Ole Miss over Tennessee and Auburn, gives the Rebels yet another strong piece to what is turning out to be a second consecutive great haul of talent. While he can’t officially sign a Letter of Intent until December, Judd is hoping to graduate that same month so he can enroll early at Ole Miss.

The JUCO star has a nice combination of size and speed, and he should be ready to step in and contribute to the Rebels next season. He should be a nice complement to incoming freshmen tailbacks Kailo Moore, Mark Dodson Jr. and Eugene Brazley, who are all smaller backs. Class of 2014 commit D.K. Buford likely will move from tailback to slot receiver when he arrives in Oxford.

Judd rushed for 463 yards and five touchdowns on 71 carries last fall.
