STILLWATER — Oklahoma State couldn’t close out its undefeated dual season.

The second-ranked Cowboy wrestling team suffered its first defeat of the year in its final match, falling to fourth-ranked Iowa 22-9 on Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

OSU ends the season at 14-1, while Iowa ends at 12-2.

The Cowboys will be back in action at the Big 12 Championships, set for March 9-10 at the BOK Center in Tulsa.

Here’s a look at Sunday’s match-by-match action:

Heavyweight: Ben Kueter adds another Iowa win

Iowa closed the dual by winning five of the last six matches, capped off by unranked freshman Ben Kueter’s 5-1 decision over OSU’s 11th-ranked Konner Doucet. Doucet led 1-0 in the third period, but Kueter managed a reversal and two-point nearfall, adding the last point via riding time.

197 pounds: Late takedown seals win for Iowa’s Zach Glazier

An intense scramble led to a takedown by Iowa’s 11th-ranked Zach Glazier in the final seconds for a 4-1 decision over OSU’s 16th-ranked Luke Surber. The third period was full of action, with a wild scramble as Glazier worked to escape from the down position. That was followed by another frantic scramble for the decisive takedown. Iowa leads 19-9.

184 pounds: Dustin Plott gets OSU back on board

After three straight losses, OSU added another win with a 4-1 decision by second-ranked Dustin Plott over Iowa’s previously unbeaten freshman Gabe Arnold. Plott’s first-period takedown was enough to get him in control of the match. With the win, OSU cut Iowa’s lead to 16-9.

174 pounds: Iowa extends lead to 10

With the day’s first bonus-point win, Iowa pulled out to a 16-6 lead on OSU with three matches to go. Iowa’s Patrick Kennedy, ranked No. 7, earned a major decision over OSU freshman Brayden Thompson, ranked No. 21. Kennedy scored three takedowns on his way to the win.

165 pounds: Iowa’s Michael Caliendo pulls upset

We’ll see if it holds, but this one might tell the story of the dual. Iowa’s seventh-ranked Michael Caliendo pulled an upset of OSU’s third-ranked Izzak Olejnik with a 7-2 decision. Caliendo scored two first-period takedowns for a 6-1 lead and made it hold to give the Hawkeyes a 12-6 lead in the team battle.

157 pounds: No upsets through five matches

Iowa’s fifth-ranked Jared Franek kept with the trend of the higher ranked wrestlers winning. He finished off a 10-4 decision over OSU’s 10th-ranked Teague Travis. But Franek cost himself a potential major decision when he lost a point because of a technical violation for locked hands. Franek needed to ride Travis for the final 30 seconds for the bonus point, but the violation was costly. Still, Iowa took a 9-6 lead after five matches.

149 pounds: Jordan Williams tops former Cowboy

Iowa was initially the favorite here, but eighth-ranked Caleb Rathjen was unavailable, turning this match into a battle of current Cowboy vs. former Cowboy. OSU’s 18th-ranked Jordan Williams got a takedown with 40 seconds to go that secured a 7-3 decision over Iowa’s Victor Voinovich, who transferred from OSU last offseason. That pulled the score back to even at 6 each.

141 pounds: Iowa’s Real Woods earns decision

Through three matches, takedowns have been scarce. Iowa’s second-ranked Real Woods needed just one to secure a 4-1 decision over OSU’s Tagen Jamison to put the Hawkeyes back on top, 6-3.

133 pounds: OSU's Daton Fix evens score

For his final match at Gallagher-iba Arena, OSU’s third-ranked Daton Fix took the mat to the Frank Sinatra song, “My Way,” then did what he always does in this building. Fix has never lost in GIA, and he didn’t on Sunday, finishing off a 7-2 decision over Brody Teske to even the team score at 3 apiece.

125 pounds: Iowa’s Drake Ayala opens with OT win

Neither wrestler could score a takedown during regulation, but Iowa’s fourth-ranked Drake Ayala managed a takedown and nearfall points for an 8-1 sudden-victory win over OSU’s No. 12 Troy Spratley in the opening match. Ayala came close to a pin, which would have been a big point swing. Instead, the Hawkeyes have a 3-0 lead after one match.
