OKC Thunder acquire Patty Mills, draft compensation in trade with Rockets, per report

The Thunder made another move Sunday on the fringes of its roster, acquiring former Nets guard Patty Mills from the Rockets as part of a larger deal.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder will receive draft compensation for taking on Mills’ $6.8 million expiring contract.

It’s similar to the salary-dump deal the Thunder made with the Heat to acquire Victor Oladipo. In both cases, the Thunder received draft compensation for taking on onerous contracts.

Mills, 34, is entering his 15th NBA season. Most known for his 10 seasons with the Spurs, Mills has also played for Portland and Brooklyn.

As things stand, the Thunder has three Australians on its roster: Mills, Josh Giddey and Jack White, who reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with OKC after a stint with the Nuggets.
