Recap: OHSAA high school basketball scores | Central, Jackson, Malvern play regional semis
Three Stark County-area high school basketball teams — Jackson, Central Catholic and Malvern — played Tuesday night with hopes of continuing their run at a trip to the state tournament in Dayton — the final version of this incarnation of the OHSAA final four before next year's expansion of divisions. Only one team moved on, Malvern.

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney beats Canton Central Catholic, advances to OHSAA regional final
Led by Jibri Carter's 26 points, Mooney defeated Central 66-52 in a Division III regional semifinal at the Field House. Luke Vlacovsky scored 20 to lead the Crusaders. No Stark County basketball teams remain alive in the postseason, with only Malvern from the area reaching the Elite Eight.

Jibri Carter has gotten going for the Cardinals, who lead 58-47 with 3:50 left in the game. Carter has 20 points.
Mooney leads Central Catholic entering fourth quarter
After leading by as many as 11 in the quarter, Mooney ends the third quarter up 44-40 on Central Catholic. The Cardinals led 40-29 at one point in the quarter before the Crusaders began chipping away at that margin. Luke Vlacovsky has 18 points and Gavin Layman 14 for Central. Rocco Turner has 14 points to lead Mooney, hitting four 3-pointers.
Mooney increases lead over Central Catholic early in third
Eddie Nieves hit two 3s to open the second half and key a 6-2 Mooney start over the first 3 1/2 minutes. Mooney's lead is 37-29 with 4:27 left in the third.

Mooney holds a 31-27 lead over Central entering the third quarter in the Division III semifinal at Canton Memorial Field House. Rocco Turner has hit four 3-pointers in scoring a game-high 12 first-half points. Luke Vlacovsky's 11 points lead Central, which is the last Stark County team alive in the postseason.
St. Ignatius advances to OHSAA regional final at Kent State
St. Ignatius defeated Jackson 87-63 in a Division I regional semifinal at Kent State. The 6-10 Damon Friery scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats (23-3), who will face Brunswick (23-4) in Friday's regional final. Anthony Fuline's 16 points led the Polar Bears (22-5).

Mooney takes a 24-23 lead with 5:19 left in the second quarter. Rocco Turner has nine points to lead the Cardinals and Ashton O'Brien has eight points.

The Crusaders led 20-16 after the first quarter. Luke Vlacovsky has eight points and Gavin Layman six for Central. The Crusaders led by as many as seven (15-8) in the quarter.

A quick 6-0 run to start the third has St. Ignatius leading Jackson 46-24.

The Malvern Hornets will continue their unbeaten season into the Elite 8 of Division IV after a 58-52 win over McDermott Northwest. Rodney Smith's 20 points led Malvern, while Dylan Phillips added 13 points.

Ignatius leads Jackson 33-17 with 3:54 left in the second quarter after an 18-1 run that goes back to the latter stages of the first quarter.
