Ohio State 2023 commit, Sonny Styles has reclassified and will sign with 2022 class

Recently, five-star safety and central Ohio native Sonny Styles decided to stay home and commit to Ohio State in the 2023 recruiting class. Looks like 2023 wasn’t soon enough as we just found out that Styles is reclassifying and will join the Buckeyes a year early in 2022.

Styles is the son of former OSU great Lorenzo Styles Sr. who played for the Buckeyes in the early 90s. He is currently listed as the No. 6 overall player in the county according to 247Sports composite rankings, but that’s for the 2023 class. He should move up to the No. 3 overall player according to the current 2022 rankings.

Older brother, Lorenzo Styles Jr. is a wide receiver at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish will head to Columbus for the opener next season which will have no shortage of storylines leading up to the game. Welcome back to the ‘Shoe Marcus Freeman!

It remains to be seen how this will move recruiting rankings for the 2022 class. At present, Ohio State sits with the No. 4 recruiting class behind Texas A&M, Georgia, and Alabama.
