Odds of the Brooklyn Nets trading Mikal Bridges to the Jazz ‘unlikely’
The Brooklyn Nets have some tough decisions to make this offseason given the matters that they have to address in some way. For starters, the organization has to figure out how it wants to rebuild since it’s not in their best interest to completely tank since the Houston Rockets own their first-round picks and pick swaps for the next few years.
Most in the NBA world are aware of this fact and therefore have been coming up with trades for Brooklyn to consider so that they can make their team better than a team destined to lose in the first round. One of the players that have been been mentioned in the mock trades the most is wing Mikal Bridges.
It’s not from a standpoint that Bridges isn’t worth keeping, but rather that his value is so high that trading him could provide the Nets with enough assets to speed up this rebuild depending on the players/picks acquired. According to Jared Koch of The Frozen Rope, the Utah Jazz, like every other team, would be interested in trading for Bridges.
Koch acknowledges that while the Jazz would love to have Bridges on their team, Brooklyn has no real reason to trade Bridges away given the aforementioned situation with the Rockets. Here’s more of what Koch had to say about the situation:
“Brooklyn simply has no incentive to lose games considering their draft pick situation. Without complete control of their selection for four years, why would the team need to tank? It would be a much better option for them to simply try to generate a competitive team until they can correctly reset.
We’ve seen what the Nets can look like with a bad team and none of their draft assets, just look back less than a decade ago!”
