Obituaries for Alicia Witt's parents offers no clues as to cause of couple's deaths
WORCESTER - The parents of actress Alicia Witt, found dead in their Worcester home a month ago, are memorialized in a combined obituary published this week.
Their bodies were discovered Dec. 20, but the cause of their deaths remains unclear.
Robert and Diane Witt, 87 and 75 respectively, were found dead in their house at 8 Sussex Lane on Dec. 20, 2021, after police were called to help a relative check on their well-being.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, authorities said at the time, adding that the state medical examiner would conduct autopsies. No official determination has been publicly filed.

There were indications that the couple had been living without a working furnace in the home for some time. They had been litigating with an insurance company that had paid a claim to fix storm damage, which remained visible in December.
The couple's daughter, Alicia Witt, is an actress whose career has included recent roles in “Orange Is the New Black,” “Nashville,” “Twin Peaks” and “Twin Peaks: The Return,” “The Walking Dead,” "Two Weeks Notice," "88 Minutes" and “Mr. Holland’s Opus.” She is also a published author and singer.
In a joint obituary, the Witts are described as an inseparable pair who strolled their Tatnuck neighborhood arm in arm until the pandemic. Both Worcester State College graduates and school teachers, they traveled to other countries before starting their family.
"They were magical, original souls - maddeningly stubborn, astonishingly brilliant, fiercely independent, utterly irreplaceable ..." the obituary reads.
Diane was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records in the 1980s when she held the record for having the longest hair.
They raised two children in Worcester, Alicia, and her brother, Ian.
Their funeral and burial were held privately, Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel handling arrangements.
