Oak Ridge junior Jamier Jones is Orlando Sentinel Varsity boys basketball player of the year

Jamier Jones burst onto the Central Florida basketball scene with 30 points and 12 rebounds against talent-ladened Windermere Prep in his season-opening debut with Oak Ridge.

That was the start of an outstanding season for a junior small forward who is ranked among the nation’s top 25 prospects in the Class of 2025. Jones is the Orlando Sentinel boys basketball player of the year after leading a stacked Oak Ridge team to a top-10 national ranking and a Class 7A state runner-up finish.

Jones is joined by 10 all-area first-team picks. That list includes three of his teammates and players from Edgewater, Evans, Olympia, Orlando Christian Prep, Sanford Seminole, Windermere and Windermere Prep.

All-area teams consist of participants from Florida High School Athletic Association state series schools in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and southwest Volusia counties. Selections were made by the Sentinel staff in consultation with area coaches.
