Oak Ridge hosts TSSAA Region 2 tennis events this week
Oak Ridge High School's Billy Bennett was the only member of the Wildcat and Lady Wildcat tennis teams to advance this past Saturday to the semi-finals of the District 4 "Individual" Tennis Tournament. He was one win away from making it to the Region 2 Tennis Tournament to be held in Oak Ridge this week.
Billy lost to the eventual District 4 Boy's Singles Champion Leyton Lu 1-6, 6-3. Farragut's Lu will be at Oak Ridge's Jackson Square Tennis Facility this week along with competitors from 20 East Tennessee high schools (Districts 3 and 4) that make up TSSAA's Tennis Region 2. Fans of tennis should take advantage of the opportunity to see skilled athletes compete for a state championship in singles and doubles. Times for specific matches are to be determined. The competition is scheduled from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
