NY Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys predictions: Our expert Week 10 NFL picks for NFC East game

The New York Giants (2-7, last in NFC East) travel to Arlington, Texas, to take on the Dallas Cowboys (5-3, 2nd in NFC East) on Sunday afternoon in Week 10 at AT&T Stadium.

A dreadful season that was unforeseen prior to Week 1 continues for the Giants. With their 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, they've already matched their loss total from 2022. The Giants own the worst point differential in the league at -116, 23 points higher than the next team (Patriots -93 point differential).

On the other sideline, the Cowboys came close to pulling off the upset over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9, but ultimately fell short, 28-23, last Sunday in Philly.

Our prognosticators are: Art Stapleton (Giants/NFL writer, NorthJersey.com), Bert Bainbridge (sports betting analyst/columnist, NorthJersey.com), Steve Edelson (columnist, APP.com), Vince Mercogliano (Rangers/NHL columnist, lohud.com), Brian Marron (digital producer, NorthJersey.com), Chris Iseman (Rutgers writer, NorthJersey.com), Dave Rivera (sports editor, USA Today Northeast/NorthJersey.com) and Bob Jordan (sports editor, Asbury Park Press/APP.com).

Here are the current standings through Week 9 for our staff members:

Mercogliano: 8-1

Rivera, Marron & Iseman: 7-2

Edelson & Bainbridge: 6-3

Stapleton: 4-5

Jordan: 3-4

Here are our staff picks for this Week 10 NFC East showdown between the Giants and Cowboys:

The Giants had the team they expected to compete for a playoff spot with on opening night the last time they saw the Cowboys, and that 40-0 blowout loss set an ominous tone for the season. Now Big Blue crosses paths with Dallas again, only a completely different team with undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito as quarterback, Daniel Jones out for the season with an ACL, and a 2-7 record. The Giants are double-digit underdogs and the spread might go even higher before Sunday.

The pick: Cowboys 31, Giants 7

Vince Mercogliano

Is it too soon to start thinking about the 2024 NFL Draft? The Giants need to retool a roster that lacks big-time playmakers at almost every position, with a top-three pick (and a chance for Caleb Williams or Drake May) a good place to start. The Cowboys should help them take a step toward getting there.

The pick: Cowboys 30, Giants 6

Bert Bainbridge

Anything that could go wrong has so far for the Giants in 2023. Now on the road, against a Cowboys' offense that's been clicking since their bye week and sports one of the best defenses in the NFL, spells even more troubles for the G-Men. This one is ugly and over before halftime even begins.

The pick: Cowboys 34, Giants 10

Dave Rivera

New Jersey's Tommy DeVito gets his first NFL start as Giants quarterback, and the assignment is about as difficult as they come. He's going to see a ton of pressure all afternoon, and he'll need Saquon Barkley & Co. to make plays for him throughout the game. As for the defense, the Giants can only hope Dak Prescott and his crew aren't sharp at all. Too much to ask for here. This one will get out of hand.

The pick: Cowboys 33, Giants 9

Steve Edelson

Given the level of enthusiasm heading into the season, coming off their first playoff win in a decade, it’s been as disappointing as any Giants’ season in recent memory, which is saying something. Now it’s quarterback Tommy DeVito’s team, with Daniel Jones done for the season. Oh, and the Cowboys beat them 40-0 to open the season.

The pick: Cowboys 38, Giants 7

Brian Marron

There is no larger spread this weekend than this matchup, and that could even grow larger with Tommy DeVito confirmed as the starting quarterback.

The Giants may not get blanked as bad as the Week 1 40-0 loss, but this game will likely not be competitive past halftime. Expect a multi-score win for the Cowboys here.

The pick: Cowboys 27, Giants 6

Chris Iseman

It's impossible to have any confidence in the Giants right now. I just don't see this going well for them. The Cowboys are coming off a tough loss to the Eagles and are going to see a major opportunity on Sunday.

The pick: Cowboys 31, Giants 10

Bob Jordan

Let me know when the rebuild gets serious.

The pick: Cowboys 27, Giants 10
