Northeast Florida high school Athlete of the Week poll: May 8, 2023
Stanton junior Gabrielle Fajardo is the Florida Times-Union's 36th Northeast Florida Athlete of the Week for the 2022-23 high school sports season, covering the week of April 24-29.
A two-way athlete at receiver and rusher for the Blue Devils, she scored all three touchdowns to defeat Tallahassee Lincoln 18-0 in the Class 1A regional first round.
She has scored five touchdowns in the regional tournament in all, and also starts for Stanton girls basketball.
She placed first in a vote of top performers that included Carlder Datilus (Orange Park boys track), Kalin Davis (Baker County softball), Chase Healey (Christ's Church boys tennis), Daylin John-Hill (Bolles boys lacrosse), Alyson Johnson (Creekside girls track), Kylie Kochis (Nease girls tennis), Josh Rouw (Clay baseball) and Anna Taraboletti (Ponte Vedra girls lacrosse).

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's Athlete of the Week for the week of May 1-6, 2023.
The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com.
This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Here are the nominees for May 1-6.
Saige Bialek, Ridgeview softball
The freshman pitched back-to-back shutouts against Tallahassee Lincoln and Columbia, allowing only six total hits, leading the Panthers to the District 2-5A title.
Brody Eisenhuth, Tocoi Creek baseball
The right fielder batted .600 with two doubles, a triple and four runs batted in, leading the Toros past Menendez 7-6 and Alachua Santa Fe 6-3 for their first-ever district championship in District 4-4A.
London Jenkins, Fleming Island flag football
The junior wide receiver caught three touchdown passes, with five total receptions for 85 yards, in the Golden Eagles' 33-13 win over Pace in the regional semifinals.
Garrett Jobe, Bolles boys lacrosse
The senior goaltender recorded 12 saves in the Class 1A semifinal victory against Tampa Jesuit and 18 more in the final against St. Andrew's.
Gabby Johnson, Bishop Kenny girls track
The senior sprinter won the girls 100 and 200-meter dash (12.27 and 24.88, respectively), placed second to teammate Ka'Myya Haywood in the 400, and raced on a school-record 4x400 relay team that won the Region 1-2A title.
Nathan Lebowitz, Ponte Vedra boys track
The senior won the Region 1-3A boys discus (185 feet, 8 inches) and placed third in the shot put as the Sharks won the team regional championship.
Maddie Stevens, Bartram Trail girls lacrosse
The junior goaltender recorded 17 saves, including two from close range in the final 10 seconds, to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas 5-4 and complete Northeast Florida's first-ever lacrosse repeat in the Class 2A state final.
