North Kingstown and Barrington win their playoff games in baseball, Bay View wins in softball

BASEBALL

Division I

North Kingstown 4, South Kingstown 3

Will Brew's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave North Kingstown a 4-3 walk-off win over South Kingstown. The Rebels tied the game in the top of the seventh on a 2-run single by Brendon Westerfield before Brew, who finished the day with 3 hits and 3 RBI, knocked in the game-winner. NK's Ben Napoli held the SK bats silent for 6 innings and Evan Beattie pitched the 7th and 8th to pick up the win. Andrew Ciarniello added 3 hits and an RBI for the Skippers.

Division II

Barrington 8, Middletown 4

Eli Terrell singled, doubled, tripled and plated 3 runs and teammate Matt Davis had a single and double and he also drove in 3 runs as Barrington doubled-up on Middletown in the first round of the Division II double-elimination tournament. Trevor Snow also factored in the win as he banged out 2 singles and knocked in 2 runs. The victory avenged a 12-4 loss Barrington absorbed early in the season.

SOFTBALL

Division I

Bay View 1, Coventry 0 (10 inn.)

Sarah Trosin threw a complete game, amassing 21 strikeouts as Bay View blanked Coventry in extra innings in the first round of the Division I playoffs. Gianna Erinakes tripled in the game-winning run in the top of the 10th inning, sending the Bengals on to the D-I winners' bracket and dropping the Oakers into the losers' bracket. Tough-luck loser Emily Cronin matched Trosin pitch-for-pitch until giving up the winning score in the 10th inning. She went the distance as well and set down 22 batters on strikes.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Chariho 3, East Greenwich 0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22)

Matt Tiernan finished with 25 kills, Kody Poplaski had 51 assists and 3 aces and Quinn Sposato added 6 kills as the Chargers rolled.

Division III

Johnston 3, Central Falls 0 (25-12, 25-18, 15-22)
