Nordhoff's Quin Seider caps high school career by swimming to two state titles

Quin Seider finished his high school swimming career in spectacular fashion Saturday and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest swimmers in county history.

The Nordhoff High senior captured two titles during the CIF-State Swimming & Diving Championships at Clovis Olympic Swim Complex.

The 18-year-old Seider took first in the 100 freestyle in 43.04 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:34.97 to secure his first state titles in his third and final trip to the state meet. The Arizona State commit finished fifth in the 50 freestyle in 20.34 and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 44.86 at the last year's state meet and placed 15th in the 50 freestyle in 21.02 and 25th in the 100 freestyle in 46.55 in 2022.

Seider's state performance came eight days after winning the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle with record-setting times during the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 Swimming Championships at Mount San Antonio College. He won the 100 in 43.36 and 200 in 1:35.27 to finish his career with five CIF-SS individual titles.

A month ago, Seider qualified for this summer’s U.S. Olympic swimming trials in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.84 during the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions in Mission Viejo.

Another two-time sectional champion had a strong showing at the state meet. Ventura High junior Sarah Beckman finished fourth in 100 butterfly in 53.88 and sixth in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.71. Beckman won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.01 and the 100 butterfly in 53.62 during the CIF-SS Division 2 finals. The Harvard commit also teamed with Emily Gonzalez, Juliet Lazowski, and Charlie Woo-Bloxberg to win the Division 2 200 freestyle relay title in 1:37.49. At the state meet, the foursome finished 18th in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.42 and 24th in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:34.36.

After taking second at the CIF-SS Division 2 finals, Newbury Park sophomore Megan Wang finished seventh in the 100 backstroke in 55.64 at the state meet.

Rio Mesa senior Jaiden Monroe, who won the CIF-SS Division 3 title in the 100 butterfly, placed 16th in the 100 butterfly in 49.92 and 16th in the backstroke in 50.24 at the state meet.

Agoura’s David Mazyan finished 14th in the 50 freestyle in 20.89 and 35th in the 100 freestyle in 47.52.

Royal’s Aneesh Veeravatnam was 23rd in the 100 backstroke in 50.51.
