Nonleague basketball season is underway for both boys and girls teams in the RIIL.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division I

Barrington 67, Mount Pleasant 51

In the first game of the season for both teams, Mike Raffa scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the second quarter to propel the Eagles to a 37-20 halftime lead and the eventual victory.  Nick Scandura scored 11 of his 18 in the second half to maintain a comfortable lead.  Colin McDermott also reached double figures with 12 points. Jamie Amado had a team-high 11 points for Mount Pleasant in the loss.

Nonleague

Cranston East 61, Mt. Hope 52

Juel Goris pumped in a game-high 17 points and Albert Keese and Darien Peterson scored 10 each as Cranston East got by Mt. Hope. It was the first victory for the Thunderbolts under new head coach David DelFino.

Johnston 50, Smithfield 49

Jayden Testa scored 13 points, including four 3-pointers, and teammate Mike Carlino matched his point total of 13 as the Panthers slipped past the Sentinels. Hayden Patenaude scored 14 for the Sentinels.

Westerly 76, West Warwick 52

Andrew Peatee was the game's top scorer with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and led the Bulldogs to victory in the nonleague game. Romello Hamelin (11 points, 5 steals), Jesse Samo (9 points,  5 rebounds) and Lucas Pennell (9 points, 3 rebounds) also contributed to the win. Jaden Hall led the Wizards with 14 points and Owen Stearns was right behind him with 13.

Lincoln 76, North Kingstown 34

Camden DiChiara found the range for a game-high 23 points and teammate Wayne McNamara added 18 as Lincoln rolled to victory over North Kingstown.

Burrillville 53, Mount St. Charles 41

Nolan Serafin poured in 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Jordan Furtado finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, in the Broncos' nonleague victory. Matt Lahar had 20 points for the Mounties.

Prout 63, Chariho 48 (Thu.)

Lawson O’Hearn of Prout led all scorers with 29 points. Chariho's Aiden Rice had a team-high 17 in the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Division III

Narragansett 39, Prout 22

A 16-4 run in the middle of the first half paved the way for Narragansett's win over Prout. Grace Blessing led the way for the Mariners with game-high 17 points and teammate Mackenzie Martin added 9. The Crusaders was led by Bella DelSesto and Charleigh George, who had 7 and 5 points, respectively.

Nonleague

EWG 50, Coventry 31

Exeter/West Greenwich got strong outings from Emma Mears (15 points) and Nini Olawuyi (13 points) and rolled to victory over Coventry.

Lincoln School 64, Central 6

The Lynx cruised to a non-league victory over the Knights, with four players reaching double digits. Sarah Berube led all scorers with 20 points, Susannah Dugan and Hevin Stanford each had 13, and Reign Whiteing scored 10.
