No. 12 defensive lineman in Georgia commits to Tennessee

Three-star defensive lineman Jeremias Heard announced his commitment to Tennessee on Friday.

The 6-foot-9, 285-pound defensive lineman is from Model High School in Rome, Georgia.

Heard is the No. 986 overall prospect and No. 95 defensive lineman in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 100 player and No. 12 defensive lineman in the state of Georgia, according to the On3 Sports industry rankings.

As a junior in 2022, Heard finished the season with 29 total tackles, eight tackles for a loss, five sacks and two forced fumbles. He has only played football since last July, but has received interest recently from both Alabama and Georgia.

Heard is the tenth commitment for the Vols in the class of 2024 and the fourth in April. Gage Ginther, Jesse Perry and Edrees Farooq announced their commitments earlier this month.

Following Heard’s commitment, Tennessee’s 2024 class ranks ninth nationally and fifth in the Southeastern Conference.
